The Haus Aden / Monopol colliery !

This photo shows the Haus Aden/Monopol colliery in November 2001. It was taken at the level crossing where the Rotherbach street crosses the railway line, not far away from the restaurant Haus Heil. And yet you can see that there are no more ropes leading up the towers.

Until April 30, 1998, Haus Aden colliery was independent, but on that day it was united with Heinrich Robert colliery in Hamm (Germany) in order to form a new colliery, the Ost colliery. By that the end of the last colliery in Bergkamen had begun. In earlier times Bergkamen was the city with most collieries all over Europe. Collieries with well known names like Haus Aden, Monopol or Grimberg were situated here.
