Lerche shaft !

The Lerche shaft, the tower of which can be seen in the photo, has a long history, yet. It was sunk in 1971 in order to supply the Koenigsborn colliery (Unna, Germany) with fresh air and was passed over to Heinrich Robert colliery (Hamm) in 1978.

After forming the Ost colliery by bringing together the former independent collieries Heinrich Robert und Haus Aden/Monopol the Lerche shaft is getting much more important. After enlarging the Lerche shaft from it's old depth of 970 metres to it's new depth of 1400 metres the very remarkable tower was taken down at the filled up Romberg shaft and brought with a spectacular transport to Hamm-Lerche, where it was rebuilt.

Now the final measure are taken, so that the shaft will be able to fulfill it's duty as the main shaft for hoisting of personnel and material. In this way the colliery will be able to reach a new deposit with some million tons of best coking coal.
