This picture was taken on 20.01.1999 when
visiting this colliery. We went underground using the Hugo shaft in
Gelsenkirchen-Buer (Germany). After that we visited the longwall mining area 5-4W in
the Zollverein seam in a depth of approximately -890 metres, where the coal is
extracted by using a steel plow. Unbelievable how black our faces were after
watching the steel plow work ... ;-).
