In this picture you can see the lamps' room at
the German Ewald colliery. After the shift the lamps are stored in the shelves
and during that the accumulators are recharged. In earlier times the lamps made
it possible to control whether all miners returned from their shift or not,
because each miner had a special number and by this it could easily be
identified who did not return, maybe because of an accident or for another
reason.
I received this picture from
Petra and her husband, so that I can
present it to you. Thank you both for the support. If you want you can contact
Petra by sending her an e-mail.
