Schlaegel and Eisen colliery, shafts 3 and 4 !


To explain what you can see in the picture:

The modern tower of shaft 4. This shaft was sunk for the first time in 1900, but lateron it was filled up again. It took until 1981 until the shaft was reopened, sunk to a depth of -1240 metres and by this became the Schlaegel and Eisen colliery's main shaft for hoisting.

Additionally shaft 3 can be seen in the picture, reaching the colliery's 8th level in a depth of -1100 metres. The pit fan is clearly visible, as well. That is the white funnel next to the shaft towers.
