This strong refrigerating plant is situated at Lerche shaft in the city of Hamm
in Germany. The surrounding rocks in a depth of about 1.500 metres where the
coal is extracted have a temperature of about 67 degrees Celsius. In order to
make it possible for the miners to work there, this refrigerating plant is
required. It has the power of several thousand normal fridges and it pumps the
coolant back underground with a temperature of about two degrees Celsius.
