Heinrich shaft's strong pillars !

The shaft tower's pillars !

In this picture you can see one of the pillars carrying the tower of Heinrich shaft. This one has a certain slope towards the shaft. On the left outside the photo there is the machines' hall with the hoisting machine inside. The pillar's slope has the intention to make the tower more stable and to compensate the powers resulting from the weight of the pit cages and their load.

The gate on the right (behind the forklift truck) leads to the pit bank's first level where different materials are packed into the pit cages. The miners walk through the long corridor (in the background, several metres over the ground) and use stairs to descent to the pit bank. On the right you can see the staircase leading down.
