At the footpath that has been mentioned under the
previous picture various
mining related machines etc. have been placed - and this pit cage is one of
them. The pit cages are fixed at the winding ropes and are used for
bringing the goods into or out of the colliery. The most modern pit cages are
built of four floors like the one you can see in the picture and by that make it
possible to transport the miners and the goods in a very efficient way.
