To explain this picture: The both white arrows
indicate the position of the two pit cages - one of them is fixed at each end of
the rope. The "HB" at the top is the abbreviation for Haengebank, the German
word for pit bank - the end of the shaft at the surface - and the figures
indicate the different underground levels the shaft is connected with. Today the
pit cages' positions are measured electronically.
