Under this hill there is shaft 6 of former Lothringen colliery.
The shaft led down to the colliery's eighth level in a depth of -1026 metres (data from the book of J. Huske,
"Die Steinkohlenzechen im Ruhrrevier"). Today a supermarket has settled next to
the former shaft and a power plant using the methane gas coming from the shaft
in order to generate energy has been built here, as well.
