This large machine is used for the extraction of coal. The coal in front of the machine
is cut out by what looks like a
chain saw. Behind the miner on the right you can see the dark coal and the
lighter overburden very well. Let me draw your attention to the nice ancient
miners' lamp in the foreground on the right, as well.
