This is obviously another onset - different to the one in the
previous picture. On the
right side of the onset the pit cage can be seen very clearly and additionally
in earlier times it does not seem to have been usual to mount gates or metal
grilles in front of the onset in order to prevent miners and material from
falling down the shaft. On the right next to the onset the roadway continues and
leads into the other direction. This way is used if materials etc. have to be
transported into the other direction without passing the onset or without using
the shaft.
