After that the steel plow or the shearer has cut another slice of
coal out off the seam, the safety shields are pulled towards the seam by the
metal ropes that can be seen in the picture. In a second step the shearer or the
steel plow will be pushed forward so that it will be closer to the coal face in
order to be able to cut off the next slice of it.
